Budapest Gambit (Borik) - 2nd hand
Borik Otto
Description
The Budapest Gambit (1 d4 Nf6 2 c4 e5) is a much underrated system which leads to lively play and attacking chances for Black. The positional justification, establishing a strong knight on e5, is well-founded and attempts at refutation have been unconvincing. The author provides substantial original analysis and over 30 illustrative games which allow the reader to get a feel for the types of middle game positions which arise.
The average weekend tournament player will find this work a source of new ideas and the surprise value of the opening will make it a lethal point scorer in the hands of the well-prepared exponent. The lively Fajarowicz Gambit (de Ne4) is also well-covered and will be a useful second-string defence.
