This variant of chess (Capablanca) invented in the 1920s by world champion José Raúl Capablanca.
Contains two new pieces and is played on a board made up of 100 squares.
Capablanca believed that within a few decades all matches between grandmasters would end in draws, this was the main motivation why he created a more complex version of this game. New pieces allow for the creation of new strategies, tactics and ideas.
- Cardinal - combines the movement abilities of the knight and the bishop.
- Chancellor - combines the movement abilities of the knight and the rook.
