Jaan Ehlvest is an Estonian Grandmaster who has been one of the world's leading players over the last few years. He was a member of the all-conquering Soviet team, and reached the Candidate stage of the World Championship in 1988. Ehlvest has played the Dutch Defence at the highest level with tremendous success and is an expert of the Leningrad Variation.
