Descrizione
Aaron Niemzowitsch is regarded as the most profound and original thinker on chess. He introduced into chess phrases as ‘prophylaxis’, ‘hanging pawns’ and ‘the passed pawn’s lust to expand’ which are now part of chess vocabulary. Chess Praxis is one of his three major works, along with Die Blockade and My System, and is essential reading for the aspiring club or tournament player.
Niemzowitsch’s contributions to opening theory were mainly based on the hypermodern principle that control of the centre did not imply occupation by pawns and this is seen in the Nimzo-Indian Defence and Winawer (or Niemzowitsch) variation of the French Defence.
Chess Praxis is mainly a collection of the great master’s games, but it also expands on his earlier writings on subjects such as centralization, restriction, blockade, over-protection and many others. As Craig Pritchett aptly stated in his book on the Nimzo-Indian “A little Nimzowitsch will give your chess a lot more depth.”
